The Graduate

My baby, The Graduate
Well, today was Garrett's 6th grade graduation program. I didn't know until last night, so it's a good thing I could leave work. I wasn't going to cry, but then his teacher was speaking about how proud he was of this year's class and how they were really a special group. And, I just couldn't help it.......I sniffled a little. Then all of the parents were asking to get pictures with him and their sons/daughters, and he wiped a tear or two. He really is a great teacher. Garrett has never done as well or liked school near as much as this year.
My baby is growing up. I've wined a lot about that on this blog as of late, but I just can't help it. I only get one!

Week 20 Sketch

This is my entry for the week #20 sketch over at the 52sketches52weeks challenge site. I was in the mood to scrap birthdays since yesterday we had a birthday bbq for my son, sister, and dad. I didn't get any good ones from that party though, so I scrapped some from 2006.

Birthdays!

Today is my son, Garrett's, birthday. I can't believe it has been 12 whole years since he was born. He is the light of my life. I can't imagine it without him. Thanks for being such a great kid babe!
Today is my sister Lacy's birthday too. She is one of my best friends and I love her face. I can tell her anything and she's always there for me. Happy Birthday Sis!

Cowboy Baby

This was my entry last week for the 52sketches52weeks challenge blog. Garrett's favorite song is "Cowboy" by Kid Rock. Everytime I look at this picture I remember that. I can't ever get him to dress country or cowboy in any way, so I'm glad I got this picture. I always wanted a little cowboy baby. Guess it wasn't meant to be lol.

Yard Sale Season!

I'm a girl that loves a bargain, so naturally I love a great yard/garage sale. Last weekend we went yard selling, and came back $32.75 lighter. We got some great stuff for that much money though. We got 11 Xbox games for $15, a pair of gloves for $.75, a pair of nearly new shoes for the ever growing boy for $3, A leather office chair for $5, a shop light (or spot light, not sure) for $4, and the piece that tops the cake.................................

Hello--that desk was only $5!! Seriously. It created some much needed space in our office. Plus, Garrett got our old computer desk and chair, which makes his room look tons better. And, the weekend before last, we got him a fairly nice dresser for only $5. So now his room look pretty decent.

All of this "new to us" furniture got me in the mood to organize, so now I have a pile of stuff to sell in my own yard sale. And, I got all of the boy stuff out of our office closet so I could get my scrap stuff on the shelves. I'm lovin it.

NYC

Here is my layout for the week #18 challenge at www.52sketches52weeks.com. The color of this page is a little bit brighter in the picture than in real life. That happens when you take pictures indoors with a flash, but oh well.
I'm having too much fun doing these challenges (in case you haven't noticed). This is going to be the cover page to a New York album I plan on doing. We packed a lot of stuff into a weekend trip. So much that I have enough pictures to make a respectable size album.
Hope you like it.

me at 33

This is my layout for the week #17 challenge over at 52sketches52weeks. This one is way out of my comfort zone, but I'm pretty happy with it. I don't usually use patterned paper for a background. I think it is distracting, but it turned out good here. I also never scrap myself. I haven't ever liked having my picture taken, but I'm getting better at it. I have lots of pictures of my mom, and I want the same for my son if anything ever happens to me. Anyway, here it is.
