Hey there. Not much going on around here. That's why I haven't posted. I have been trying to catch up on my Project Life album. I finished 2015 and got January 2016 done. Now I'm starting on February. I'm hoping to get caught up so I can just do it month to month like I planned :) I'll see if I can get some photos sometime this week and post them.

I fell behind when Shane's dad (my father-in-law) passed away in July. It's not easy to scrap when your heart is broken. But we are getting through it now. Though I think Shane has some real bad days. I feel bad for him. I'm going to be a wreck when my dad passes away. Hopefully it won't happen for a LONG time. I just don't think we can do that again. It was one of the hardest things we've ever been through.

We both lost our mom's earlier in life. Shane was only 11. I was 19. And that was really hard. My mom was one of my best friends. And I knew she never judged me. But, I don't know, I think now that I'm older it just might be harder to lose a parent. I can't explain it. Maybe I was just young and I didn't realize what a hole it would leave in my life at the time. I do realize now. And I miss my mom every single day.

Anyhow, I didn't mean for that to be a bummer post. Didn't even really mean to talk about all that. But I guess it needed to come out. So there it is.

Guess I'll beat it now that I've bummed us all out lol. Bye!

Happy Mother's Day y'all! I had a good day today. Shane and I got up around 7:30 or so and lounged around for a bit. Then Shane said he wanted to go get some flowers for his mom and go see her. I agreed, I haven't been to my mom's grave in a while either. So, we got dressed and went to buy some flowers. Then we got Garrett up and headed out.
Shane's mom is buried in the Provo City Cemetary. So we headed there first. The flowers we brought over on Valentine's Day (her birthday) were still there. I thought the cemetary would have cleaned them up by now? They were carnations as well. Her favorite flowers were carnations.

Then, we headed over to my mother's grave in Pleasant Grove. I feel bad. I haven't been here for a while. I know I visited sometime near Christmas. I can't remember if I came for her birthday in January or not? But we came over here for Valentine's Day too.

I'm pretty sure my mom's favorite flowers were daisies. But, they didn't have any. And I know that she would have liked these pretty white roses.

Shane's mom is buried close to her mother, so we took a carnation from
her bouquet and put it on his grandmother's grave too. My niece, who was
only 3 months old when she passed away is right near my mother as well.
So we pulled a rose from mom's bouquet and laid in on Nicki's grave. We
couldn't afford to buy flowers for all of them :(

When we got home, we pretty much just lazed the day away. Garrett vacuumed the living room for me. Shane had picked the house up and put a bunch of stuff away yesterday. Garrett did the dishes last night. So that was nice.
I finally got my craft room all clean again. Now I can mess it up. Ha ha.

It was a good day. Looking forward to more good days as summer comes!
Talk to ya later.
Today started off with breakfast at Golden Corral with Shane and Garrett. We like to do that sometimes. Mainly on payday weeks lol. It's a nice way to start a weekend.

Afterword, my sister, Kim, and I went to the Big Bodacious Boutique at the Fairgrounds in Spanish Fork. We had a lot of fun, saw some cool stuff and spent more money than we had planned on (isn't that how it usually goes?).

There were a lot of really fun booths, but the ones we gravitated to usually had hand-painted wood signs and decor or jewelry. Surprisingly, Kim got more jewelry than I did. I'm usually the jewelry hoe lol. But she and Jason have been doing a lot of sailing (they now have three sailboats I believe), and there were a lot of little anchor, compass, and captain's wheel charms and things. So she had fun with that.
I got some cute flower earrings and a suede bracelet.
Then, we happened on this Lilla Rose booth. OMG. Awesomeness. We both wear our hair up a lot, so this was pretty cool to us. It gives your ordinary twist up a little bit more of a put-together look. I am kind of broke right now (:0), so Kim bought me one for Mother's Day. Isn't that sweet of her? I love it!

Then, when I came home, Garrett and Shane were outside potting me some geraniums! Love them! And they aren't easy to kill ha ha. G mowed the lawn, and the yard just looked amazing.

Later on Shane made dinner. We had pork ribs from Fresh Market (they smoke them on major holidays and sell them), cheddar broccoli pasta, and grilled brussel sprouts. Yum! It was delicious.

Tomorrow, which is actually Mother's Day, they are going to clean the house for me and hang an awesome old window that I have been wanting to put up in my craft room. I have been spoiled. I'm so thankful that my boys love me!

The weather is getting warmer, and we are loving it! Time for some grilling!

We actually grill all year. Shane loves to grill and experiment with seasonings on different meats and stuff. But, it is definitely easier in spring and summer. I think we can all agree :)

Tonight I decided I wanted to try some chicken kabobs. My sister, Kim, brings them to family barbecues quite frequently. And they always look so yummy!

I have to say, these weren't as inexpensive as I had thought or hoped. However, I did buy way too much stuff lol. We each had a good amount for dinner, there was plenty left over for work lunches the next day, and Shane had some for a snack later.

Shane did an amazing job at keeping everything moist, and the seasoning was fabulous. We like our stuff spicy, so he used plenty of pepper. He got some on my pineapple by accident, but it was actually pretty good. Might do that on purpose next time!

I forgot to mention to that when I got home today, G surprised me with a flashlight. It has long range reach and a bunch of other bells and whistles lol. It is LED, you can strobe it or it has an SOS setting or just straight beam like a normal flashlight. You can also adjust the beam to concentrated or a really large circle. He got some sort of deal on their website, so he bought two (one for his dad's birthday in April, and one for himself) and then got mine free. I guess it is a military grade survival-type flashlight. Pretty cool. He bought them back in April, but they were on backorder.
Y'all--I live in Utah, we don't say y'all. But I do. I don't know why.

Anyway, I really am gonna try this blog thing again. I like it. I'm just not real good at it lol.

All I have to say today is that I spilled some Diet Coke on my USB drive (that has ALL of my pictures on it). Y'all, I about had a heart attack. I was wiping it, blowing on it, sucking on it, lol. Seriously. I was panicking. So I hurried and copied all of the photos over to my computer so I'd at least have a back up. AND NOW MY COMPUTER IS ACTING ALL FUNKY!! What the crap?

That is all.
Well, I guess it has been a while lol. I totally fell off of the "30 Days of Thankful" wagon. But, I am still going to finish my thankful album. Maybe I'll do that this Thanksgiving ha ha. The holidays, and really the last 3 months of the year in general, are just so busy that I ran out of time. I should probably just do a page a week until I'm caught up I guess.
I'm gonna try this blogging thing again. I know I keep saying that, but I do so enjoy sharing my creative "stuff" with other creative people. So, here we go again.
I recently joined a pocket scrapbooking group on Facebook where we make our own pocket cards and exchange them (the group's name is Pocket Card Swaps if you're interested .). I'm having loads of fun and wanted to share some things I am making.
My first item is a twinchie. The theme this month is a color theme. This is the swatch we were given to work with:

And this is the twinchie that I made for that color scheme.

By the way, a twinchie is just a 2" X 2" square card decorated to insert into pockets for Project Life or pocket page style scrapbooking, or for use on regular scrapbook pages as well.

Another of the swaps I joined for the month of July was for cards following a certain color theme as well. For this swap, we could make either 3" X 4" or 4" X 6" cards (the most popular sizes for pocket page style scrapbooking). This is the color swatch we were given:

And this is the 3" X 4" card that I made to swap out for this month:

I hope you enjoyed seeing my work today. I have a couple more swaps I am still working on. One of them is card candy in a free theme (Card candy are just little bits of handmade embellishments that you make to go on your cards or photos as decoration.). The other one is for a different group, and that was is also for card candy, but the theme is Christmas. I'm excited for that one!

I haven't started either of these themes, but I will be sharing what I do when I have them done. So, stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by today! Leave me a comment if you like what you see or if you have questions. I'd love to answer any questions anyone has if I'm able. I sometimes don't know the brands of things I use because they've been in my stash forever. But I will do my best.

Today I am thankful for date nights with my hubby. We don't get them too
often because we just can't really afford it, but he got his bonus from
work yesterday. So, we splurged a bit.
We ran into my sister, Kim,
and Jason at the restaurant tonight too. Which is a little funny because
we have only been to The Pizza Factory twice in 12 years lol.
So, we all decided to share a table and do double date night instead!
Today I am thankful for the compassion of Shane's new Workman's Comp doctor, Kirk Leininger. His previous case doctor had a seriously bad bedside manner. He assumed everyone who was coming to him had a problem with pain medication use, and would not give him anything for pain at all. I know my husband. He does not abuse medication. He doesn't even take it before the "every 4 hours as needed" is up. Even if he is in pain and needs it. He isn't a drug addict. He has a serious back injury, and it hurts to watch him hurt. He doesn't ask for meds often. Only when he has to have his back injections, like today.
I get that some people do abuse prescription drugs and that doctors have to be careful about how and when it is prescribed. But this last doctor would never even listen to him when he said he was having pain. His solution was always to discuss surgery, which Shane is terrified of. He has a couple of friends that had the same surgery, and they were both worse off afterword. He'd rather deal with the pain than be disabled.
So, to have a doctor who listens to him and who talks to him and understands his needs is just really awesome. Doctor Leininger takes the time to explain things to us both and makes sure all of our questions are answered. I am so thankful that Shane was able to switch to him.
I am doing a Thirty Days of Thankful journal in an 8X8 Project Life pocket style album. I thought it would be nice to blog my thankfulness here for you all to share in.
Obviously, I am starting the blog entries late. But here are my first six things to be thankful for. I will share my photos of the pages as they are completed as well. I know you're technically supposed to work on those daily, but I don't really have time until the weekend.
So, here goes.
1--I was thankful for a handy hardworking hubby and son. We had an
electrical issue that soon turned into a bunch of issues that they found
while fixing the electrical. Plumbing problems mostly.
This could
have easily cost us anywhere from $500-$1000 that we just don't have.
But we have awesome friends that gave us supplies that they happened to
have from previous jobs of their own. And my hubby is super smart and
knows how to fix nearly anything. So it ended up costing us around $200
in supplies only. So happy they could do it. They weren't happy having
to get under the house and deal with the yuck. But we're all glad that
we didn't have to hire someone.
As I said in my post a few days ago, this pocket page scrapbooking is REALLY starting to grow on me. It gets pics in albums fast, and the every day stuff that may not ever get scrapped otherwise, gets into books too. I'm loving it.
I decided to do a pocket style album for this year and see how I like it. I am only doing it by month right now because, and if y'all know me you'll understand :), I can't really picture myself being able to keep up with weekly at this point. And daily is never going to happen :)
Anyway, I wanted to share some pages I have done recently. So here they are.
I also joined some Project Life groups on facebook to get some ideas and maybe even join some swaps or challenges. I just joined my first challenge, which had a theme of "Summer is Here". The challenge part was that you could only use regular cardstock (no patterned paper), and you had to use at least one each of stickers, stamps, flowers and bling.
I didn't ask, so I hope it is ok, but I used ink as well. That may get me disqualified because she said to only use the things she put on the list. But, you have to use ink to stamp. So I was hoping I could scrape by on a technicality. I was having a really hard time coming up with some designs.
We were to do a 3X4 and a 4X6 card for this challenge. Here are my entries. Tell me watcha think?
Sorry I've been a bit absent. Busy last couple of weeks in my family.

Anway, I don't really have a lot of time to post today, but I wanted to share this fun little tutorial I found on YouTube and what I made with it. It was so easy!

I haven't really invested much in washi tape. Because I don't think I'll ever use a full roll of one design. I don't want all of my pages or projects to look the same. That's why I never buy paper stacks either. Too many of one pattern. Or, even worse, a bunch that I don't even like.

I digress. I found this fun and really simple little video from Beckie Lehman on how to make your own washi tape yesterday and decided to give it a go.......Totally Worked!

Here is the fruits of my labor. Isn't that fun?! It probably requires a bit of advanced planning due to drying time. But I could totally wip up a bunch using all of my lovely scraps that I can't bare to throw away :(

I have to say that I am really liking this Project Life style of scrapbooking. I got 7 pages done in about an hour on Saturday. This amount of pages would have taken me days in the past! Which is why I never get anything done. I don't have a lot of time these days to devote to scrapping.
I will still do some traditional pages for important and special events, or things that mean a lot to me. I'm not saying that family vacations don't mean a lot, they do, but we pretty much do the same stuff every year. And, I kinda like the focus on the photos aspect of this style of scrapping as well.
Anyway, I got all caught up on the 2012 hunting trip yesterday. Now I can try to get caught up on previous years. Maybe I can get my hunting book all caught up before we go again this year lol.
Most of what I used here is the Echo Park collection called Photo Freedom Volume II. But some
of it came from the 24/7 kit from Simple Stories. And a couple of random patterned papers from my stash that I really don't know where they came from

Today's Manly Monday card was actually made by me a few years ago. I really loved this stamp set, and I think it makes great cards for men and for boys. It is retired now, but I still have mine. It is one of those I think I will keep forever.
I had made this card to give to my father-in-law for his birthday once, but I ended up using a different one. I just found it again in my card stash, so maybe he'll end up getting it after all :)
Yup, it's that time of year again! Graduation usually happens in May (at least 'round these parts), so I thought my next card swap was a great opportunity to try out this card top I've been wanting to make with my Silhouette Cameo machine.
I imported the star punch from the Stampin Up My Digital Studio software into my Silhouette software. Then I traced it and made into a cuttable Studio file. Then I just made a rectangle shape in the dimensions I needed for my card top and added some stars to it. Pretty easy, and I love the result!
Too bad I don't really know anyone who is graduating this year. But, I didn't put a year on them on purpose so that I could save one for later, and the ladies in my swap group can save them as well.
I asked the ladies what colors they would need for graduations coming up so that I could make less boring cards lol. Black and silver turned out great, but I really like the colored ones a lot.
And, as always, this idea is not my own lol. I got the idea from a card I found on Pinterest here. I just used a different method to make them :)
The yellow looking paper on this one is actually a soft shimmery gold.

This one is my favorite. Probably because it is my favorite color, my high school colors, and my son's high school colors (not the same school).

I like this one too, but it is the colors of a rival to my high school, so it isn't my favorite lol.

I didn't really have time to make a new manly card this weekend with the holiday and all. We went to Fountain Green and spent Saturday with my family for Easter. It was beautiful weather, and we had such an amazing time. I really love our blended family :)
Then yesterday we spent time with our neighbors out in the beautiful sunshine and had a fun little barbecue salmon dinner. Surprisingly, even though I hate fish, it was very good.
But, I do have a manly card to share that I made a long time ago. I copied this card from someone on Splitcoast Stampers. I usually save that information to give credit, but I seem to have lost it. So, I apologize, but I am not trying to take credit. This is 100% not my idea (most things aren't lol).

I used an old retired stamp from Stampin UP called Noble Deer. I love this stamp set. This is one that I will never ever give up. It is so versatile and can be used for so many things. And I have a lot of sportsmen in my life, so it has paid for itself already!
This card was super easy and quick. I made like 10 of these for a Father's Day card swap in about 20 minutes time. Don't you love when things work out like that?
Anyway, here are some pics from our Easter holiday. I hope yours was full of fun, family, and love just like mine!
So, once upon a time (when I was a buyer at Robert's Crafts--that'd be nearly 4 years ago), I was introduced to this thing called Project Life. It is a scrapbooking system developed by Becky Higgins that utilizes pocket pages (pretty much like photo album pages) and printed card inserts to go along with them. You just slide in the cards and your photos, maybe embellish (or maybe not), slap on a bit of journaling, and your done. It can be a simple and fast way to keep your everyday memories but still feel like you are making pretty pages at the same time.

Now, the reason I said 'can be' is because I seem to make everything more complicated than it really is lol. Someday I may get the hang of the fast and easy part. But these pages took me forever! I am really happy with them though. I really love this style and will continue to use it. It takes the 'where to place my picures' dilemma out of things. That is a huge hurdle for me.

The date on this one is wrong! Lol. I just realized that.

A lot of people do Project Life on a daily or weekly basis. And there are even kits and groups you can join to help with that. I don't think I could ever keep up with it that much. Although, I may try to do monthly pages. Maybe. But I really like the simplicity and style of it and will use it to fill in with some of my more traditional pages done for special occasions and events.

This seems to work especially well for me on things like camping pages. I don't feel the need to do traditional pages for camping anymore, because we go on the same trip to the same place every year. I still want to document things. But I don't think I need a beautiful, award winning layout to do that lol. These pocket style layouts are pretty, simple, and (can be) quick.

Most of what I used here is the 24/7 kit from Simple Stories. But some of it came from an Echo Park collection called Photo Freedom Volume II.

I have been wanting to try cutting a vinyl window decal with my Cameo machine for a while. I was just intimidated by it. I have had a Cricut machine before too, and I never cut vinyl with it either lol.

Well, the store bought butterfly I have had in the back window of my car forever finally died lol. I think I scraped most of it off with my snow scraper in winter. So, no time like the present....

So silly! Nothing to be intimidated by at all. It was super easy! I just looked up some tutorials on YouTube, got the general idea, and went for it. I did mess up a couple of cuts, but eventually I got it.

I think this is a little huge, but I still like it. I'll keep it for a bit and see if it doesn't grow on me. If not, I'll have to make a smaller one.

Whatdya think? I had taken a few pics of my vinyl cuts and the process of putting it on my window, but I accidentally deleted them from my phone---ooops! I actually had to download this pic from a Facebook post I made about it :)
I thought I might start a new thing on my blog to get some inspiration going for masculine cards. I know I have a hard time making cards for boys or men, and I have heard the same from many of my friends. We'll call it 'Manly Monday', unless I can come up with some better super brilliant name at a later time :)
Today I am sharing a really fun masculine card using the Stampin Up! Thinlets flip card dies. I am loving these things. They are so fun to open! My husband is really tired of watching it LOL. Every time I make one, I make him look at it flip back and forth. I'm sure he is not as entertained as I am ;) And, if you own a Silhouette or other cut machine that can cut SVG files, there are loads of cut files for these things on the internet. I bought a couple of them from Lori Whitlock, and there are a bunch in the Silhouette store too. Super fun!
Anyway, here is my card. I hope it helps inspire you to create a manly man card today!
Happy Sunday y'all! How do you like my post title? Ha ha. I named this post after a song by The Monkees. I live in Utah County, UT. Everyone around her jokes and calls it 'Happy Valley' due to the high concentration of Mormon values and families in the area. I won't give you a history lesson on the reasons for that, because I am not Mormon, but I do like living here in Happy Valley.

I don't know about you, but I am usually lazy on Sundays ha ha. It is, after all, the day made for rest. I think some people in this world would do well to understand that even God set one day aside for rest. Not that being busy isn't good, but taking some time to relax, reflect, and be thankful is always a good idea too

Anyhow, I thought maybe a nice sunshine card would be just the thing for today, since it is SUNday. And the weather continues to be gorgeous here in my neck of the woods.

I actually made this one a couple of weeks ago. But I really love it. This is my first sunburst card, and it really wasn't as hard as I had imagined. I think this could become addicting! It is easy and quick and packs a punch of fun pattern and color.

Well, hope you all have a good Sunday and get some good relaxation in for the coming week. I know I will ;)
So, this week I finally think that Spring has sprung and is here to stay! Now that I have put that down in hard copy, it is going to snow lol. Happens every time!

With all this warm weather and pretty scenery blooming everywhere, I've gotten the urge to create some fun Spring inspired home decor. My sister, Kim, and I took a burlap wreath making class with Stephanie Mason at the April James Interiors store on Main Street in Spanish Fork this last Thursday. We had loads of fun, and these wreaths are not difficult to make at all!

Here is the one I made. I am admitting right now that I copied the patterned burlap in turquoise chevron and white polka dot from another girl at the class. I loved hers so much that I had to do it that way lol. Hope she doesn't mind! I super love the pops of orange in the flowers that I found at Hobby Lobby too.

And, just for fun, here is a pic of my cat in the top of our trees. I have never been a cat person, but this one has got a personality lol.

Looks like I am not very good at this whole blogging thing lol. I have great intentions. But life gets in the way. Plus I am super lazy after work, and do not know how to blog from my phone (super lazy as in, I don't even want to boot my computer up sometimes tee hee).
So, let's see. Do I blog, or do I not? Seems like facebook is sort of taking the point of a blog away. But then, you can't really go into detail on facebook, you know? Eeesh. But do I really want to go into detail? Decisions ha ha.
I do want a place to share my hobbies mostly. Daily life is probably more for facebook. But I am sure no one on my facebook friends list (with a few exceptions) really wants to see all my scrappy business lol.
I am also toying with the idea of starting a little Etsy biz, whatcha think of that? Listen to me, asking questions like I really have any readers. Psssshhh...... Anywho, I really like making little girl hair doodads, but that doesn't really work when you only have one child, who happens to be a 16 year-old boy who stubbornly refused to wear little girl hair doodads. The nerve....... I'd like a place to share all that fun stuff too.
Well, those are my random thoughts for this evening. So I'll leave you, my non-existent audience, to think on that. Ta ta.
Just thought I'd post something on my blog since I did say I was going to start blogging again.
This weekend has been a really nice relaxing one. At least it has for me. Shane had to work on Saturday, so his was nice, but short.
This is the first sunny weekend we've had for a few weeks. So we took advantage of it by doing almost nothing lol. On Saturday I went yard selling with our neighbors, Pam and Colin. I got an electric can opener--yay! All I've had is a hand crank one, and it's been on it's last leg forever. So I was pretty happy to get a good electric one for only $3.
Then, after we got home, we pulled out the lawn chairs and hung out with the neighbors some more. They were tilling up their garden and doing some yard work, so we visited for a bit.
Today was pretty nice, so I decided to make it somewhat productive. I pulled all of my car washing stuff out and spent almost all day cleaning the car thoroughly. I love having a nice clean car again!
Shane and I have been taking walks for a few nights now, but last night we took a longer one, and I'm pretty sure I hurt myself. I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot, and the walk last night seems to have really inflamed it. I hope I can keep walking because I was really starting to like it. My right knee hurts now too, but I think that is because I was compensating for the pain in my foot.
I have been wanting to do more scrapbooking and cardmaking. But, when it is sunny outside, it is really hard to want to stay in at all. Maybe I'll have to get my cousin, Cassie, to plan another card exchange just to get me some new motivation going.
Well, on that note, I am tired, so I guess I will head to bed. Here's to nice, relaxing and sunny weekends!
Yep, sure am gonna start blogging again. I am.........at some point. Just wanted to put that out there and let y'all know I am still here.

This is really weird. A few months ago I tried to put a post up that had some photos. Blogger told me at that time that I had reached the limit of photos I was able to post on my blog (1G of photos space). But I just did a test post a few minutes ago, which I have since deleted, and now it is letting me post pics. So I may occasionally post on this blog more for my craft projects that I don't really put up on facebook because most of my friends and family on there are not interested in that stuff.

So, anyway, here is a picture just because apparently I can put more on here now. Yay!
I made this page as a test for using My Digital Studio software from Stampin Up. The hubby really liked it, so I printed it at Costco, and it's hanging in a frame in our living room.
I've decided that blogging is sort of pointless once you have facebook. So I quit! Lol. Really though. I don't think I'll be blogging much anymore at all. I say the same things here as I do on facebook. I used to use this blog for sharing cards and scrapbook projects. But, I just found out that there was a limit on the number of pics I can post here, and apparently I've used it up. So there is really no point in blogging now.
Sayonara (or however you spell that)!
